This qualification moves beyond tactical procurement levels to managing a procurement team undertaking strategic procurement.

The new PSP60616 Advanced Diploma of Procurement and Contracting was released on 7 March 2016 and is designated as a specialist qualification that covers the 15 units of competency required for the management of strategic procurement in public sector organisations.

The PSP60616 (which supersedes the PSP61212 Advanced Diploma of Government (Procurement & Contracting) is a nationally recognised qualification open to all levels of government and comparable with the Queensland Government’s Procurement Certification Level 4.

The program structure, similar to the MTS Diploma of Procurement & Contracting, is a holistic delivery model, which means that the competencies have been clustered and content relating to values, ethics, legislation, negotiations, research and analysis, communications, risk analysis and strategic sourcing and category management are blended through the procurement and contracting context.

Pre-requisites

There are no pre-requisite qualifications for this qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework. However, to ensure participants maximise their learning and achieve the required outcomes, it is recommended that participants have:

  1. 5 years work experience in a public sector environment with organisational policies and established work procedures and or;
  2. 2 years practical experience managing procurement projects or;
  3. Previous experience in tactical procurement and contract management at senior or middle management level
  4. For participants without any work-based experience, it is recommended they complete the PSP50616 Diploma of Procurement and Contracting prior to enrolment in this program.

Course Overview

The training is a ten (10) day, 3 module clustered program. The training is delivered face-to-face at our centrally located Edward Street learning centre with full facilitator contact time.

 

Module 1 (3 days): Planning for Strategic Acquisitions

Focuses on strategic planning activities, specifically, the policy environment, the development of procurement plans and creating effective business cases. The program also looks at the context of procurement within the public sector.

 

Module 2 (3 days): Managing the Acquisition of Strategic Outcomes

Focuses on coordinating procurement activities, winning support for procurement activities, building procurement networks and negotiating to achieve strategic procurement outcomes.

 

Module 3 (4 days): Delivering Strategic Acquisition Outcomes

Focuses on risk management, ensuring probity in procurement practice, directing the management of contracts, category management and managing the supply chain.

Course Fees

The full course is $5,200 (individually) GST free, or $4,800 each for group bookings of 3-6 people, if booked at the same time on the same program.

A $1,500 deposit is required at enrolment for individuals enrolling onto this course (if not being paid by an employer). The balance of $3,700 to be paid in 2 equal instalments of $1,850 payable at the commencement of Module 2 and Module 3.
