Management Team

Martin Dutton – Director

Martin is a Director and Financial Controller of Major Training Services Pty Ltd. In this role he has gained considerable experience as a successful project manager of significant training development and delivery projects for government agencies, particularly in the area of procurement. In addition to his fifteen years with MTS, Martin has over 16 years practical management experience including financial resource management and purchasing responsibilities.

Martin's personal passions are his family, which includes two high energy, young boys, the Sydney Swans AFL team, skiing and swimming.

Martin's qualifications include - Master of Business Administration, Macquarie University; Bachelor of Science (Computing), University of NSW; Certificate IV in Public Sector Procurement; Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training.

David Hurrell – Director

David is a founding Director of Major Training Services. He is a highly qualified and experienced practitioner and trainer who has been providing results oriented learning development and advisory services to Australian business and governments for over 15 years primarily in the fields of finance, strategic thinking and planning, contracting and procurement. David is a lively, enthusiastic and engaging presenter who is able to build enthusiasm and understanding for any training. David is a highly sought after facilitator and trainer throughout Australia and SE Asia. David is also the recipient of the Bristow Award for Training Excellence.

David's personal passions - His family, surfing and surf lifesaving, particularly junior surf lifesaving and coaching junior AFL football.

David's Qualifications include - Masters Degree in Accounting; Graduate Management Qualification; Graduate Certificate in Procurement; Bachelor of Arts (Economics); Advanced Diploma in Government (Contract Management); Certificate IV in Government (Procurement and Contracting); and Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training.

Alex Szabo – Business Manager

Alex Szabo is a strong relationship manager and leader, with well-developed presentation, liaison, organisational and negotiation skills. He has demonstrated ability to work with personnel of all levels including senior management and Chief Executive Officers, in Australia and overseas.

In addition to being a practitioner, Alex is a presenter of training in project management, procurement and contracting principles to Government departments and the private sector. His aim is to impart not just information, but also knowledge and understanding, and does this in an inclusive and entertaining manner.

Alex lives with his wife and two children in Canberra. They have wide ranging interests including travel, current affairs, scouting, basketball, soccer and the performing arts.

Alex holds a Master of Business Administration degree (with project management specialisation); a Graduate Diploma of Business (Management); Diplomas of Applied Science and Administration Studies; Certificates IV in Government (Procurement and Contracting) (PSP 4 03 99) and Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ40198).

Patrick Magee - Training Systems Manager

Patrick is an experienced training developer with a strong background in the application of the Systems Approach to Training to achieve outcomes focused competency based training and assessment solutions as well as non accredited professional development skills training. He has a breadth of experience in Training Needs Analysis and training course design having delivered these services to a range of government and international clients.

Patrick holds post graduate qualifications in Vocational and Adult Education and Training, a Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Development, a Diploma of Project Management and a number of certificate level qualifications in Training and Assessment and Occupational Health and Safety.

Patrick lives in Canberra with a keen interest in golf and in playing the guitar and music in general. However, his current focus is the production of vegetables and herbs which he hopes to develop to the stage of being self sufficient.

Jan Sundstrom – Administration Manager

Jan has been with Major Training Services (MTS) since February 2003.  Jan came to MTS with a strong background in Administration, having worked in a variety of industries including, superannuation, web site development, community nursing and DVD & Video distribution.

Jan is responsible for the day-to-day management of MTS’ Administration Services including: management of the MTS Administration team; course administration (in line with Client and RTO requirements); developing and implementing policies and procedures; administration and co-ordination of MTS’ On-line Learning system; Human Resources and is the first point of contact for general enquiries.
